Our Mission and Vision
Widescale is a platform founded by Quentin Snyder and Edgar Pocaterra III dedicated to advancing sustainable energy solutions with a special focus on nuclear for regions that rely heavily on fossil fuels. The idea originated from Quentin's studies of energy transitions, along with his close collaboration with nuclear industry experts.
Core Mission
Address fossil fuel dependency in smaller or emerging markets (such as Island Nations) by operating as a fully-fledged independent power producer for small modular reactors. We establish public-private partnerships where the state provides land, permits, and a long-term power-purchase agreement, while we create a special-purpose vehicle that ring-fences all liabilities and owns the plant, balancing strong returns with measurable community benefits.
Key Activities
Developing and coordinating public-private partnerships (PPPs) tailored to small-island or remote-area contexts. Providing feasibility insights for small or microreactor deployments, including cost modeling, regulatory guidance, and environmental safeguards. Emphasizing local training and capacity-building, ensuring that any proposed energy solution contributes long-term value to both communities and investors.
Present Focus
Implementing our cradle-to-grave approach with small island nations—where every project includes a "return-to-vendor" clause ensuring the SMR supplier disconnects, encapsulates, and ships the module back to a licensed facility at end-of-life. This discipline, combined with sovereign support for inflation-indexed tariffs, aligns with ESG criteria and channels free cash flow into local infrastructure and climate-resilience projects while insulating host governments from nuclear complexity and operational risk.
This grounding in community-first thinking, combined with practical financing solutions and technical due diligence, forms the foundation of Widescale's approach to delivering reliable, clean energy in markets historically dependent on costly and volatile fossil fuel imports.
