We provide end-to-end project management and independent power producing execution support for the safe, scalable, and strategic development of Small Modular Reactors (SMRs) in developing and transitioning economies

Our Services

Strategic & Technical Implementation for Small Modular Reactor Deployment

At Widescale, we offer modular, end-to-end services designed to guide clients — from governments to utilities to investment consortiums — through every stage of SMR adoption and implementation.

Central to our approach is early, structured engagement with SMR vendor companies. We run a competitive technology screen that scores each vendor. Once a preferred supplier is selected, Widescale negotiates a turnkey EPC wrap and a lifetime service contract that keep schedule, cost, and performance risk with the OEM—the people who built the reactor. This alignment lets us present a single, bankable package to regulators, lenders, and host governments, while the vendor benefits from a clear development pipeline and standardized deployment playbook.

Our Business Model

End-to-End Project Management and Execution

Widescale Energy operates as a fully-fledged independent power producer, taking each SMR project from concept to end-of-life under a single, bankable structure.

Public-Private Partnership

We begin by signing a memorandum of understanding with the host government that quickly evolves into a public-private partnership: the state provides land, permits, and a long-term power-purchase agreement (PPA), while we create a special-purpose vehicle that ring-fences all liabilities and owns the plant.

Cash flows from the take-or-pay, inflation-indexed tariff cover operations, maintenance, and scheduled fuel-rod replacements.

Risk Management

Turnkey contracts place schedule and cost risk squarely on the SMR vendor and its EPC consortium, complete with liquidated-damage clauses, while force-majeure events are insured and addressed through hardened design criteria.

Once the plant enters service, the original equipment manufacturer runs day-to-day operations under a long-term service agreement that guarantees high availability and continuous remote diagnostics.

Local Workforce Development

A parallel workforce-development program trains local engineers so that island talent can advance into key operational roles, ensuring skills transfer and community buy-in. Widescale's asset-management team monitors performance, enforces covenants, and manages stakeholder reporting.

Cradle-to-Grave Responsibility

Critically, every PPA embeds a "return-to-vendor" clause: at the end of the reactor's service life, the SMR supplier disconnects, encapsulates, and ships the module—along with its spent fuel—back to a licensed refurbishment facility, relieving the host nation of decommissioning and waste liabilities.

This cradle-to-grave discipline, combined with sovereign support for the tariff, aligns with ESG and green-bond criteria and channels a share of free cash flow into local infrastructure and climate-resilience projects.
